Pop Quiz terms of use

Last updated: 23 October 2026

These terms cover the Pop Quiz for Google Slides Chrome extension, the join page that players open on their phones, and the Pop Quiz website. By installing or using Pop Quiz you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.

1. Who provides Pop Quiz #

Pop Quiz is made by Jozef Wright, an individual in New Zealand (hello@popquiz.fun). In these terms, “I” means me.

2. What Pop Quiz is #

A free tool that runs live quizzes and polls inside Google Slides. A presenter uses the extension. Players join on a web page in their phone’s browser. Details of what data is handled are in the privacy policy.

3. Free, and as is #

Pop Quiz is free. It is provided as it is, without any promise that it will always work, be available, or be free of errors. Google can change Slides at any time and that can break Pop Quiz until it is fixed. A live game depends on your internet connection, your players’ phones and a relay service, so keep a plan B for any session that matters.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.

4. If you host a game #

You are responsible for:

  • the questions and content you put in your quiz;
  • your players, and what they type;
  • having the authority to run Pop Quiz with the people who play. If they are children, that includes authority from the school or from their parents or guardians;
  • telling players to use first names or aliases, not full names;
  • following the rules of your workplace, school or event.

Pop Quiz is not directed at children.

5. Acceptable use #

Do not use Pop Quiz to:

  • harass, abuse or threaten anyone, or use offensive or hateful nicknames or answers;
  • share anything unlawful;
  • run games for real-money wagers, prizes of value, or gambling;
  • try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the relay or the website, or get around the limit on players in a game;
  • misuse the service in a way that harms other users.

I can remove a nickname, block a connection, or stop a game or a user that breaks these terms.

6. Tips #

Tips on Ko-fi are voluntary. A tip is a thank-you for something already provided. It does not buy extra features, a better service, or any promise of support. Ko-fi’s own terms apply there.

7. Not affiliated with Google #

Pop Quiz is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Google, Google Slides and Chrome are trademarks of Google LLC. Other product names mentioned on Pop Quiz pages are trademarks of their owners.

8. Limits on what I am responsible for #

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss that comes from using Pop Quiz, including a game that fails, a lost quiz, or content that other people put into a game. Keep your own copy of anything you care about. Pop Quiz saves a safety copy of each deck’s quiz in your Downloads folder, but a file on your own computer is still yours to protect.

9. Changes and ending the service #

I can change Pop Quiz, change these terms, or end the service. For a change to these terms, I will update the date above and tell users in the extension before it takes effect. If I end the service, I will give notice on the website and in the extension where I can.

10. Law #

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, you keep any consumer rights your own country’s law gives you that can’t be excluded.
