Questions
Before you press play
What do I need to run a quiz?
Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop (Windows, Mac, ChromeOS or Linux) and a deck in Google Slides. Players need only a phone with a browser. They scan the QR code or type the room code, pick a nickname and play. No app, no account, no sign-up.
Does Pop Quiz work with PowerPoint?
No. Pop Quiz works only in Google Slides, because it draws the quiz onto your slides in Chrome. It doesn’t run in PowerPoint or Keynote. If your deck is a PowerPoint file, open it in Google Slides first (Slides imports .pptx files), then add the quiz there.
How many people can play?
Up to 150 players in one room, which covers a whole team or a full office all-hands. Each player joins on their own phone. The limit is the same for everyone, because there is no paid plan with more seats.
Is it really free? What’s the catch?
Yes, it’s free. There is no paid plan, no trial that runs out, no ads and no account to make. The catch is honest: it needs Chrome on a laptop, and it only works with Google Slides. Pop Quiz is made by an independent developer in Auckland, New Zealand.
What happens to my data?
Your quizzes stay on your own computer, in Chrome, with a safety copy in your Downloads folder. During a game, questions and answers pass through Pop Quiz’s relay to the phones, and the relay stores nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and nothing is sold.
Does it work for remote and hybrid meetings?
Yes. Share your screen on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, and everyone plays on their own phone, wherever they are. Speed is timed on each phone, from the moment the question appears on it, so a slower connection doesn’t count against a remote player in a tie-break.
Your next meeting, now with a scoreboard
Two ways in. It depends what’s in your hand.
